In the event of a Tier3 level oil or HNS Spill, the regional oil and HNS spill contingency plan would be activated. The South Asian Cooperative Programme (SACEP), reflects collaborative efforts among member countries to address such critical incidents effectively.​​  ​

International Assistance
The severity of oil or HNS spills corresponds to different stages of the Tier 2 scale based on national capacity. Tier 3 incidents, however, necessitate international assistance, particularly in the initial stages for rescue operations, oil/ HNS spill response, and rehabilitation efforts.​
